JOB DESCRIPTION 

StorageCraft is currently seeking to hire an experienced Software Architect to become an integral part of our development team in the Information Systems department.   The Software Architect will design the back-office systems, integrations to the product lines, and integration strategies for our partners by focusing on the "big picture".  The Software Architect will create architectural approaches for software design and implementation to guide the development team.

A successful candidate will demonstrate a strong technical background and excellent enterprise design and software development skills. They are experienced in designing and possess the ability to develop a unified vision for software characteristics and functions.  They act as high-level decision makers in the process, determining everything from design choices to technical standards, such as platforms and coding standards. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing software solutions to address complex business issues, oversee, and provide technical leadership by working closely with other members of the Information Systems and Product Engineering development teams. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop software solutions by evaluating and interpreting business requirements to articulate the business needs to be addressed and transforming those requirements into enterprise solutions.
  • Conduct research, gather information, interpret data, and then present solutions to upper management.
  • Will lead the technical implementation of on-shore and off-shore development projects. This may include creating a team of workers suitable for the scope of the project, assigning duties to the staff, creating a timeline for the project, and performing cost analysis and budgeting functions.
  • The analysis, design, programming, testing and deployment are all managed by the Software Architect.
  • Documentation is a very important part of the Software Architect's job. Every aspect of a system or application must be thoroughly recorded. These documents will serve as references for new employees and for future maintenance on the system. Software Architects must be able to communicate well through writing and be able to create flowcharts and diagrams.
  • Coaching and mentoring development team members. The ideal candidate will share their skills and expertise with other team members as well as set a positive example for them. They will inspire and encourage their team members to think creatively.
  • Collaborate with other professionals to determine functional and non-functional requirements for new software or applications
  • Use tools and methodologies to create representations for functions and user interface of desired product
  • Develop high-level product specifications with attention to system integration and feasibility
  • Define all aspects of development from appropriate technology and workflow to coding standards
  • Communicate successfully all concepts and guidelines to development team
  • Gather user requirements and identify new features
  • Oversee progress of development to ensure consistency with initial design
  • Ensure software meets all requirements of quality, security, modifiability, extensibility etc.
  • Provide support for escalated development and technical problems
  • Develop technical and training manuals
  • Create technical specifications for software, network, and database developers

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a software architect
  • Experience in software development and coding in various languages (Java, C#, Angular, etc.)
  • Excellent knowledge of software and application design and architecture
  • Excellent knowledge of UML and other modeling methods
  • Experience integrating Azure, AWS, or other cloud-based systems into developed solutions
  • Knowledge of T-SQL and database modeling
  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS, JavaScript and UI/UX design
  • Understanding of software quality assurance principles, software life cycle, and software release standards
  • A technical mindset with great attention to detail
  • Strong technical communication skills
  • High quality organizational and leadership skills
  • Competent in estimating project development and implementation costs and timelines
  • Deadline and detail-oriented
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Business and technical acumen to interpret client requests
  • BA/BS in computer science, engineering or relevant field. Experience may be exchanged in lieu of degree
